Q. What is a Mind Map?
A. A Mind Map is a graphical tool that utilises both sides of the brain. We give full credit and acknowledgment to Tony Buzan, the inventor of Mind Maps. There are many examples of Mind Maps; that are not really Mind Maps. We try to obey his Mind Map Principles as far as possible.
Q. Why is there sometimes a Registered Trademark symbol after Mind Maps?
A. The term Mind Map is actually a registered trademark of the Buzan Corporation, but for use under certain circumstances and only in Canada and the US.
The use of the term “Mind Maps” is claimed as a trademark by The Buzan Organisation, Ltd. in the United Kingdom and the United States. The trademark does not appear in the records of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. In the US “Mind Maps” is trademarked as a “service mark” expressly for “EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, NAMELY, CONDUCTING COURSES IN SELF-IMPROVEMENT” — other products and services are not covered by the trademark.
Q. How can Mind Mapping help me?
A. The number of ways a Mind Map can help you are too many to mention here. More about using Mind Maps can be found on our companion site, UsingMindMaps.com. Here are some of the applications of Mind Maps:
- Note Taking (Taking down other peoples ideas, whether from a book, a computer or a teacher/lecturer)
- Note Making (Making notes of your own ideas for essays, etc.)
- Creative Thinking
- Curriculum Vitae (Resumes)
- Business Plans
- Memory Enhancement
- And much, much more…
Q. Why are you called YourTutor?
A. To answer this, we used the Collins Dictionary definition of a tutor: “A Teacher, usually instructing individuals and often engaged privately.” We believe that we can tutor you along the path of better achievement with our services and products.
Q. Do you teach how to Mind Map?
A. We can, and sometimes do, but we find that supplying ready to use Mind Maps has more benefits for our customers as Mind Mapping is not always that easy to do, despite all the claims to the contrary. We have introduced the concept of a Mind Map Tutor that is unique to us, to help you learn faster with less effort.
Q. I see you offer a Learning Management Programme. What exactly is a Learning Management Programme?
A. Our Learning Management Programme guides you through what we see as the important aspects of learning. It uses Mind Maps and Linear Notes, thus introducing you to Mind Maps in a more gentle way while teaching you how to learn. We use the term “You use our method to learn our method!”
Q. What does the Learning Management Programme cover?
A. The learning Management Programme consists of the following modules:
- Goal Setting
- Time Management
- Study Methods
- Note Taking
- Exam technique
- Sound Mind, Sound Body
Q. Do you offer classes?

Q. Can your courses be done online?
A. We offer Ebooks and Interactive Mind Map Tutors that put you at the centre of the learning process. You will need access to a computer and the Internet to download our material. Once it is downloaded, you can use the material offline.
