In line with our vision, we offer high quality Mind Maps and other solutions to solve many needs. If you are not sure whether we can help you, contact us.
This page gives you a bit of history of our efforts. It also highlight the fact that everything we do is well researched and tested. We use real, live people like you in our research. The results are worth the effort, as our material is practical and easy to use. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of some of the things we say. The benefit lies in the simplicity!
Slow adoption of Mind Maps.
While we have been using Mind Maps for over 20 years and have found it to be the best productivity and learning tool ever invented, we also found its adoption to be somewhat slower than it should be. This is not only locally, but worldwide.
One of our goals is to get YOU to reap the benefits of using Mind Maps without worrying about the complexities of creating Mind Maps. Once you’ve gotten used to using them, you can then go on to the Mind Map laws and theory. This method enables you to go from the known to the unknown with greater ease.
Reasons for slow adoption
After lots of research, we came to the conclusion that while Mind Maps are easy to use, they are not so easy to create. There are many reasons why this is so. Here are a few:
• Old habits die hard!
• This is probably the number one reason for not adopting Mind Maps®.
• Learning the Mind Mapping® principles may not be as easy as it first appears.
• There is no time to learn a new method.
• Structuring information needs a lot of practice.
• Key Word summaries are not common practice. This is also a difficult skill to learn.
You may have a few more of your own.
Our research and development
Be that as it may, we embarked on an experiment to test whether we could develop quality Mind Maps that anybody could use. Jasmine taught economics at a college part time, while completing her second degree and decided that she should try it in the classroom.
We decided to Mind Map the complete Economics Curriculum for the Grade 12 Learners (the last grade at high school in South Africa) and handed them out as notes to the learners. The learners were given no other form of notes. We must add that many of the learners at that particular school were viewed as underachievers by their previous schools and English was not the mother tongue of many.
The results were the best ever at that school! This was repeated the following year!
This spurred us on to sell our Mind Maps via the Internet, as we found it easy to set up without too many costs.
While we sold a number of these online courses, we found the results to be less than satisfactory. The Mind Maps were too detailed for someone exposed to Mind Mapping for the first time. Our Mind Maps worked well with a trained teacher, but not as a self-help programme.
Change in approach
We changed our approach and began to use it as a study guide and not as complete course notes for the entire curriculum. We told students to still use standard linear notes, but instead of using their current method note taking method, we asked them to try the Cornell Method, as developed by Stanford University. This worked amazingly well!
Out of this our learning management programme was born.
Our Learning Management Programme guides you through all the skills you need to learn, using both Mind Maps and linear notes. The programme has been tested online and in the classroom with both delivering excellent results.
It also forms the basis for many of the products and services we offer. While you could use any of our other products or services, we highly recommend that you first do the Learning Management Programme.
But that’s not where it ends. We are also developing Mind Map guides for many areas. We call these guides MindMapTutors, a term unique to us.
These guides will cover the main principles of the subject creating ‘hooks’ for the brain to latch onto when trying to learn the details. The Mind Maps have been created by expert practitioners and have been quality checked and approved by us. Even though they only cover the main principles, you may find that more than 80% of your learning may already be done after studying our Mind Maps!
We also develop Mind Map guides for the business world. Whether it is a policy that you want to put on your website, a procedure that you want people to follow, or simplify your training, we will be able to help you. If you want to know whether we can help you, ask us via our Contact Form.
We hope that this gives you some good insight into our ideas and vision. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to Contact Us.
